Roopenshu Pratap Singh — Founder & Managing Partner
Roopenshu Pratap Singh read law at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, and has been in practice since 2017. He practised at BSK Legal, latterly as a partner, before establishing Samaanta Law Firm in 2025.
His own practice is principally in matrimonial and family law, criminal defence and constitutional litigation. He appears before the Supreme Court of India, the Delhi High Court, the Central Administrative Tribunal, the NCDRC, the National Green Tribunal and the district courts of Delhi. His work includes a substantial body of matters for Non-Resident Indians dealing with Indian family courts from abroad.
Teaching and the profession
He speaks regularly at law schools on the practical side of litigation: the hierarchy of courts and the role of a junior advocate, courtroom decorum and forms of address, researching a next-day hearing, arguing a criminal matter, and what clients actually expect from their counsel. Sessions have been delivered at institutions including Lloyd Law College, and the firm’s internship programme grows directly out of that work.
How the firm is run
Leadership here means conducting matters, not supervising them from a distance. The founder appears in the firm’s significant matters personally and reads every file the firm takes on before it is accepted. That places a natural ceiling on the volume of work the firm can hold, which is a constraint we have chosen rather than one we are working to remove.
Day-to-day conduct is shared with the firm’s advocates, each of whom carries their own matters and is the point of contact on them. You can see who they are on the People page.
