What this is
From time to time the firm commissions discrete pieces of research: a survey of authority on an unsettled point, a comparison of how different High Courts have approached a provision, or a note tracking the effect of the transition from the old criminal codes to the BNS and BNSS in a particular area.
Who it suits
Students in their final years, recent graduates preparing for enrolment, and early-career lawyers who want to write. The work is remote and part-time, on defined deliverables with a stated deadline. It is paid.
How it works
- You send a writing sample and tell us the areas you are comfortable in.
- We send a scoped question with a deadline and a fee.
- You deliver a note with authority cited and verified.
- The note is reviewed and you get the mark-up, whether or not further work follows.
Standards
Every citation must be checked against the judgment itself, not against a headnote or a secondary source, and you must say where a proposition is contested. Research that overstates authority is worse than useless to a litigator, because it fails in court rather than in the office.
Publication
Where a note becomes the basis of a published piece in Insights, contribution is acknowledged.
